FAQs

How do I know if Nutritional Therapy is right for me?

Simply put, if you are ready to take back control of your health and longevity using effective diet and lifestyle changes, then Nutritional Therapy is for you.

You may be living with a chronic condition and want to manage this in the best way you You may have seen your doctor who has run all of the appropriate tests and informed you that the results are normal, but your symptoms have not improved. You may be totally confused by the constant stream of conflicting health advice on the internet. Or you may be trying your best to make healthy choices but still feel out of balance. This is all, sadly, far too normal. Identifying and correcting these imbalances on your own can be really difficult, which is where a Nutritional Therapist comes in.

I am trained to help identify and address the root cause of your symptoms using a functional medicine approach. I consider each client to be unique and recommend personalised evidence-based nutrition and lifestyle programmes rather than a ‘one size fits all’ approach.

Some of the common complaints that I see as a Nutritional Therapist:

  • Poor digestion

  • Weight gain/loss

  • Stress

  • Inflammation

  • Fatigue

  • Sleep issues

  • Skin conditions

  • Poor immunity

  • Hormone imbalances

  • Mood swings

  • Autoimmune conditions

Why Gut Health?

The gut plays a pivotal role in our overall health, influencing every function in the body, including digestion, vitamin production, regulation of our immune system, skin health, metabolism, mood and appetite. As a result, understanding how to support your gut health, including the trillions of bacteria living in your gut, is absolutely vital for your long-term health and well-being.

Is Nutritional Therapy a substitute for traditional healthcare?

Nutritional therapy cannot diagnose or treat medical conditions and is not intended to replace the advice of medical professionals. Nutritional Therapy is a powerful complementary healthcare approach which can work seamlessly alongside traditional medicine to support and optimise your health through diet, lifestyle and natural supplements. Registered Nutritional Therapists rely on your GP for diagnoses, so if you are suffering from any health condition you should always consult your GP first. I will then work in collaboration with your GP for the best and safest practice, reporting nutritional assessments, recommendations and functional tests where appropriate. I will always recommend that you see your GP if you report any ‘red flag’ symptoms either on your case history form or during your consultation.

I am on medication from my GP, will you advise me about changes I need to make?

Any changes to your medication can only be carried out by your GP. I will, however, examine all potential contraindications and drug-nutrient interactions with your medications and any food or supplements that I recommend. I will always encourage you to keep your GP informed about any changes you make following my assessment.
