Sleep Well Yoghurt Bowl

The urge for a little sweet treat after dinner is extremely common, so opting for something that can satisfy us yet still promote rest and relaxation is a winner in my eyes. This snack is easy to assemble and includes simples rest-promoting ingredients such as cherries, kiwi, unsweetened live yoghurt, pumpkin seeds, almond butter and cacao nibs, which are packed with magnesium, calcium, antioxidants, melatonin, and amino acids, like tryptophan (which helps to make melatonin and serotonin that regulate our sleep-wake cycle, sleep quality, mood, appetite.). So next time you reach for a biscuit or bar of milk chocolate, give this a go instead. I always recommend having it straight after dinner to give you gut time to digest before bed.

Servings: 1 small bowl

Time: 5 minutes

Ingredients
1 tbsp frozen cherries
½ tsp chia seeds (optional)
splash water
2 tbsp full fat Greek yoghurt
½ kiwi, sliced (keep the skin on for added vitamin E, folate and fibre)
1 tsp almond butter
1 tsp pumpkin seeds
1 tsp cacao nibs
pinch cinnamon powder
drizzle raw honey

Method

  1. Gently heat the frozen cherries with a splash of water and chia seeds until they soften & form a compote.

  2. Meanwhile, prepare all the other ingredients for assembling.

  3. In a small bowl, add the Greek yoghurt, then top with the sliced kiwi, warm cherry compote, almond butter and sprinkle over the pumpkin seeds, cacao nibs and cinnamon powder.

  4. Finally drizzle a little raw honey.

  5. Enjoy!
